8:00am – Meet at the front lobby entrance of the Ala Moana Hotel for pick up by a deluxe air conditioned micro-bus, depart by 8:15am.
9:00am – Arrive at MARI’S GARDEN the largest Organic Aquaponic Farm in Hawaii, located on 18 acres in Mililani Town. Inspired to conserve and reuse water, Fred and his son Brendon Lau created their model of sustainable farming. Take an easy walking tour to learn how Aquaponics is another alternative to creating a healthy farm to table experience, which is good for you and good for the environment.
11:00am – Arrive at the KAWAILOA WIND FARM which is a 69 megawatt wind farm currently under construction on Kamehameha Schools’ land on the North Shore of Oahu. Located five miles northeast of Haleiwa, the wind farm will consist of thirty 2.3 MW Siemens wind turbine generators. Upon completion later this year, Kawailoa Wind will produce enough clean, renewable energy to power roughly14,500 Oahu homes and supply as much as 5-10% of the island’s electrical load. Our tour will allow us to see and learn about this state-of-the-art renewable energy project.
12:45pm – Arrive at the KAHUKU FARMS, where wholesome country freshness begins! A delicious locally sourced lunch of a Panini crusted sandwich filled with a medley of farm grown grilled veggies, a fresh hand picked salad topped with a lilikoi vinaigrette, a bottomless glass of refreshing mango iced tea, and homemade banana bread topped with vanilla caramel sauce.
